Relax....

Life is stressful. Everyone needs to take time to themselves and relax. Teaching can be overwhelming. But the sound of the water is refeshing. Live a little.

Computers

Well I do not have much to say about this side of the argument. I feel embarassed to say that most of my students would probably know more than I when it comes to technology. I never had the internet until the end of my senior year in high school. While I was in high school was when I learned how to type, and still all I know how to do is peck around. Computers are just not for me I would rather do everything with books, paper, and pencils. I would hate to be a student and have to sit on the computer and read my reading story online. I'm 20 years old and get terrible headaches when I stare at the computer for a long time. I feel like technology will definetely replace textbooks and that is a scary thought for a upcoming teacher who struggles with technology herself. How would you feel if your children were having to do homework on the computer and you could not help them because you did not know how to use the computer? Would this mean that every student would be required to have home computers? How do you feel about using technology instead of textbooks? how would your child feel? The world is turning to technology so be prepared.

Textbooks

There is two different sides to this side.

Positive Side: Textbooks are the only thing I feel comfortable with when it comes to learning. They allow students the opportunity to read and explore problems as a whole. Teachers are gaurenteed to know where and what their students are doing in the classroom. They are able to carry their textbook up to the board to demonstrate a problem.

Down Side: Textbooks are a pain to carry around. My child is having back problems. We have to renew textbooks in our school system every few years. They are a waste of trees. We could use the money for textbooks for other things.

There are tons of different things that you could come up with for this side of the argument. However I feel like every student should use textbooks. If it was up to me I would make all my students use textbooks instead of computers.
Textbooks vs. Computers

I was doing some reasearch over teaching with technology and you might be suprised with the issue I came across. A textbook free classroom. At Mountain Springs Elementary School they are trying to push all-digital calssrooms.

Creativity is the key

Google Docs

Have you ever gotten fed up with working with microsoft word. If so deffinetely need to check out the features and forms that google has. In class we were shown how to take a google survey and turn it in to a spredsheet. I found this interesting. One reason because I was not sure how to create a spreedsheet but mainly because it took your questions from the survey and put them in a nice neat layout so that you can view the answers clearly. Every teacher needs to make things as clear as possible. Can't wait to try this out when the beginning of school starts out adn I need information from my parents about my students.
